LiveU LU800 Pro – Hire in London

To improve our LiveU hire offering in London and the UK, we’ve upgraded our transmitter from the LU600 to the powerful LiveU LU800 Pro. While the LU600 consistently delivered a rock-solid platform for networks across the UK and worldwide, it unfortunately lacked 5G capability — a feature that has become essential for maintaining stable connections.

In contrast, the LiveU 800 Pro has already proven to be a significant step up in both performance and capability.

What’s new in the LiveU LU800 Pro?

The most significant change is the ability to send multiple cameras in one stream, allowing up to four cameras to synchronise on one video stream.

As a result, this allows your single LiveU feed to provide an entire outside broadcast to your studio without needing a video switcher on site.

For example, a studio in Sydney could seamlessly switch between cameras based in London.

Moreover, the upgrade from 4G only to 5G is significant, enabling much faster uploads from the field.

Additionally, further changes include dual return audio outputs, which allow the unit to carry mix-minus audio for talent and a separate feed for crew communications.

Finally, the LU800 now features dual charging ports, letting you run the unit on both AC and DC simultaneously for added redundancy. The LU800 now draws more DC power and requires 19 volts, which a standard camera battery supplies through a D-Tap cable.

Why choose Newsworthy Vision for LiveU Hire in London?

Unlike other providers, our LiveU 800 hire kit includes everything you need to get broadcasting quickly and reliably. It is ready to go out of the box with everything a news crew requires to broadcast. Specifically, it contains:

  • Eight steerable SIM cards that automatically use the strongest available network
  • Two cabled IFB amplifiers for talent and crew, complete with earpieces
  • One additional 3.5mm earpiece for direct connection to the LU800
  • Two SDI cables and one HDMI cable
  • A D-Tap power cable and V-Lock battery plate
  • An AC charging power supply
  • A backpack that allows the operator to wear the unit while transmitting

How reliable is the LU800 LiveU hire kit?

Over the last five years, we’ve used the H.265 version of the LU600 with very few issues. It quickly became the go-to unit whenever reception might be a concern at a location.

Ultimately, the LU800 takes reliability to the next level. With 4x 4G and 4x 5G connections, along with dual Ethernet ports, it delivers an unbreakable signal in almost any environment.

Furthermore, when you add a Starlink connection, the setup becomes truly unstoppable.

How portable is the LiveU 800?

The LiveU 800 backpack kit is lightweight, portable and designed so that a single camera operator can wear it while transmitting.

As demonstrated in the following video, it can be worn whilst operating shoulder-mounted ENG-style cameras or even whilst using gimbals and mirrorless cameras.

In addition, with just one video cable required to run from the camera into the transmitter (SDI or HDMI), tripping hazards are significantly reduced, allowing for more dynamic live shots with fewer safety concerns.

How do you pay for the data used during your LiveU hire?

We charge a flat daily fee for the LiveU backpack hire kit; however, mobile data is billed by the Gigabyte. For example, one Gigabyte typically equates to around 45 minutes of 3 Mbps footage—a fantastic rate that highlights how efficiently H.265/HEVC encoding conserves bandwidth. Moreover, you can configure the LU800 to cap your bandwidth usage and help minimise costs.

Furthermore, Ethernet or Wi-Fi usage doesn’t affect your chargeable data quota. As a result, if you have access to your own network, you may incur no data charges at all. Nonetheless, Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections that require a login may need assistance from LiveU Support to establish a connection.

Frequently asked questions about the LiveU LU800

What is included in the LiveU LU800 hire kit?
We include the transmitter, power supply for both AC and DC power, two complete IFB kits with earpieces, and video and audio cables.
How much does it cost to hire the LU800 in London?
£495 per day (Before VAT).
Do you provide SIMs and mobile data?
The SIMs in the transmitter will work out of the box anywhere around the world. Just tell us first where you’d like to use them.
Can the LU800 stream multiple cameras at once?
Yes. Up to four cameras can be connected via SDI and transmitted simultaneously to a single receiver. Please contact us in advance if you require this.
How do I book a LiveU hire in London?
Call or email us, and we can potentially have the unit to you the same day once you provide the necessary insurance information.
How reliable is the LU800 in busy areas of London?
We have found the 800 to be rock-solid so far across all areas of London, even where major events are taking place. If you need extra transmission power, we can offer a Starlink unit or a directional 5G antenna to help you escape overloaded towers.
How long does the battery last?
The internal battery lasts for at least two to three hours whilst transmitting. When a 90wH camera battery powers the unit, it tends to last just over an hour when constantly transmitting. We always recommend using an external power source where possible, either a battery or an AC supply.
What network coverage does it use (4G / 5G)?
Both! The unit has four 4G and four 5G antennas.
Does the hire include LiveU support and warranty?
Yes. The unit has Gold-level support from LiveU, which can resolve most issues remotely.
Do you deliver the LiveU kit across London?
We can, absolutely. Once you pass our insurance checks, we can have it delivered to you within a few hours.
Is the LU800 suitable for live streaming events, sports, or news in London?
Absolutely. It is regularly used by major Premier League teams for their internal video teams, as well as by major broadcasters at events across London.
What happens if network coverage is poor at my location?
The transmitter will use as many SIM cards as it can to bond an HD signal to your receiver. With eight to choose from, the chances of getting out go up significantly. The SIM cards themselves will also switch to a stronger network if the signal degrades.
